Top 5 Hindi TV Shows (Urban + Rural Households)

Source : BARC Ratings
1) Anupamaa (Star Plus)
At number #1 is the Rupali Ganguly and Sudhanshu Pandey starrer Anupamaa. This is another superhit show from the Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut Productions after Bidaai and the eternal Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Anupamaa, essentially a story of a giving homemaker, has struck the chord of the masses and has brought back Star Plus in a big way in the ratings game. The show also proves Rupali Ganguly’s mettle as an actor and a star as this is her third iconic role after Monisha in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Dr. Simran in Sanjeevani.
2) Imlie (Star Plus)
Imlie, again a Star Plus daily, is at #2. This 4 Lions Film’s production stars Sumbul Touqeer Khan as the eponymous Imlie, a small town girl forced to pose as a servant in her husband’s home in the city. This three month old show has surely made its mark in a very short duration.
3) Ghum Hai Kisi Ke Pyar Mein (Star Plus)
Another love triangle revolving around a forced marriage, Ghum hai Kisikey Pyar Mein, is at #3. The show revolves around a small town girl Sai who is forced to marry Virat after her father dies. Sai is being played by Ayesha Singh and Virat is played by the 12/24 Karol Bagh star Neil Bhatt. Good to seen him back!
4) Kundali Bhagya (Zee TV)
This Shraddha Arya starrer has proved to be quite a ratings winner since its inception in 2017. It has maintained its position in the Top 5 for these 4 years, but lately has conceded its numero uno position after Star Plus’s resurgence in the trp game. One of the longest running shows in India, Kundali Bhagya is the only show from the Balaji Telefilms‘ banner in the Top 5.
5) Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (Star Utsav)
The reruns of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus‘ sister channel Star Utsav has managed to grab more eye balls than the original being telecast on Star Plus this week and consequently has managed to reach the Top 5. This 13 year old show has managed to be strong in the ratings game of very long now. Kudos to Rajan Shahi and Director’s Kut Productions. Also, this is their second show in the Top 5.
